Gas Processing Plant Operations

Background

Since the implementation of the PGU Project in 1984, PGB's gas processing operations are an integral component of this project. Feedgas from offshore Terengganu is landed at the GPPs in Kertih and extracted into various components namely salesgas, ethane, propane, butane and condensate. The GPP Complex in Kertih comprises GPP 1, 2, 3 & 4 with a combined salesgas production capacity of 1,000 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

To ensure reliability and availability of gas supply to end users, PGB has constructed two additional GPPs in Kg.Tok Arun, Dungun, Terengganu, which is approximately 15 km to the north of existing GPP Complex in Kertih.

The completion of GPP 5 & 6 in December 1998 and July 1999 respectively, each with a 500 mmscfd salesgas processing capacity has boosted PGB's total gas processing capacity to 2,000 mmscfd.

Functions/Design Basis of a GPP:

- To produce on-specification products in accordance with customers requirements namely methane or commercially referred to as sales gas and ethane, propane, butane and condensate.

- To process a wide range of feedstocks from the offshore fields and offgas from a crude oil terminal.
