Gas Processing

How is Natural Gas Treated To prepare it for sale?
Natural gas produced from underground reservoirs must be process to remove water, impurities, and heavier hydrocarbons. The organic origin of Natural Gas explains why it's made of hydrocarbons (Compounds of hydrogen and carbon)
Natural Gas may contain other small hydrocarbon, molecules such as ethane, propone, butane, pentane and hexane. At very cold temperatures, Natural Gas changes into liquid. This method is called cooling or refrigeratio. For example, when chilled to extreme levels, propane and butane compounds in Natural Gas will condense and liquefy. A propane-rich liquid is a useful fuel and marketed as liquefied petroleum gas, or widely known as LPG.
Natural Gas liquids are removed from the natural gas feed to recover the heavier hydrocarbons and to allow the treated gas to move through the PGB pipeline networks or PGUs. The liquids are removed because they are more valuable (have higher prices) as raw materials to produce chemicals and gasolinethan they are as fuel.
What about the industrial sector? How is natural gas utilized for the benefit of their businesses?
We know that we can use natural gas at home for cooking, heating, air conditioning and power a variety of other useful appliances but PGB main customers come from the industrial sector. In the industrial sector, natural gas is often used as a raw material for products such as paints, fertilizers and plastics. It is also commonly used as an energy source for food processing, glass making and even steel fabrication. It is also widely used to produce electricity via gas-powered stations. Other industries are ceramic, glass, rubber and steel.
